Kim's Christmas challenge

So we were out last night as DD loves to look at Christmas lights. There is a particular cul de sac (circle street) here in town that is a city-wide known area for the lights.

The whole neighbourhood gets into it, and people come from miles around to see them. All that to say, I was somewhat disappointed this time around.

But here is a shot of one of the most lit-up houses there, as requested by Kim's blog challenge:

I'm hoping to get out to our Christmas Tree Lane this weekend. Amazing displays. Every single house in these estates decorates their houses. They have even started having people bused in to see them.

Great photo! I forget to take the camera out at night.. maybe this week!. Saw one place tonight that had professionals do the decorating and it's hooked up to a radio station - the lights flash on and off with the music - they have a sign telling you to tune in! Just crazy!

Pretty! I haven't seen anything like that in this area.

Wow! I thought at first glance it was a little tacky, but the more I looked, the more I loved it! They must really break out the big ladder to get all those lights up!

I have one good picture, but have to stop & get another one of the waaaaay overdone house.

She doesn't even put up a tree anymore, least of all outdoor lights. She just puts little Santa hats on the Shih Tzu.

There are lots of houses like that here. When I see something like that, I do enjoy it, but I can only see meters running in my head.

I just realized that you are Canadian, no?

Swami: I'll keep my eyes open for a Shih Tzu running around with a Santa hat.

Boo: Yup. Canadian. And we're having a green Christmas (according to the forecast, it will be well above freezing on Monday)

I just came by to wish you and your family a Happy Holidays, Meemo.

We have a neighbor down the street who has an amazing display involving a kid sized wooden train set in his side yard. He has several variations of the animated train lights, plus all kinds of other lights. He even decorates the shed in the back, and a truck he parks in the driveway. It always gets attention from the newspapers and television. I need to remember to take a few pictures.

When the holidays are over, he takes down the lights, but the wooden train set is always there in his side yard.
